Ok so hopefully you’ve read my first article on what is personalisation .
In this article I’ll explain the different types of personalisation and when you should use them.
This is when you have shown intent that you’re interested in a product and set of related pages. An example of this is that you could be on a Superannuation site and you have been clicking around the retirement area and looking at various pages that have all been marked within Sitecore as Retirement related pages. You are then implying that you are interested in that type of content. We can then subtle introduce this type of content on the homepage and other key area’s to help provide the right content to you.
This is when we know something specific about you. This could be that you’ve logged into our Website and we know various things about you that are listed against your account. It could also be that you have clicked on a google ad campaign or an email campaign and come through to the Site with that campaign ID which means that we know you’re interested in that particular campaign and can start to personalise you’re experience with this information.
A practical example for a Super Company would be to personalise based on age, you may be over 60 years old and could be shown preparing for retirement articles. If you are 40 years old and recently joined this Super Company and your balance is very low, showing articles giving advice around consolidation of your Super would be extremely relevant.
